You are allowed to ask for what you want

I heard Iyanla Vanzant on Oprah Winfrey’s podcast the other day saying:

I have the chance to ask for what I want and the right to respond to what I get.

I love that. Yes, you’re allowed to go out into the world and ask for what you want, create the opportunities you long for and be the person you want to be. You can control that. But you do not control how people react to whatever you put out there. The ball is no longer in your court.

Someone reacts, respons, passes the ball over to you again and you have the chance to react in whichever way you like. When we get conscious about this game that we’re constantly playing with the world around us, we can discern between what is our responsibility and what is not. What’s in our control and what’s not.

When you consciously start playing with what you have, you start creating the life you want. And you are allowed to ask for what you want.

Magical thinking

We're so caught up in our logical thinking that we easily forget that that's just a glimpse of it all. Did you know that only 5% is conscious thinking and knowing, the 95% are in the subconscious. Just imagine what's going on there and beyond.

If you experience mystery, try to enjoy it rather than understand. If you see magic in your day, take it in and relax with it without trying to make sense of it all.

Life's not logical. The universe is so much more than our logical minds could ever grasp. The more you understand the more you will understand that you don't understand. It's all good. Let go of the logical thinking and rely on the magical.

Use all of your potential

Only 5% of our awareness is conscious, working in the logic and rational left brain. 95% is unconscious - 95%! Logic thinking, rationalizing and analyzing are not always the smartest thing to do, honestly it's rarely the smartest thing to do. When we unleash our full potential, our intuition, our emotional intelligence, our silent experience and knowledge - that's where the magic happens.

This is something I need to remind myself of often. I'm so caught up in my left brain all the time. Sure, I meditate and do yoga daily, and in those instances I leave the left brain out. I spend time in nature and I go on silent retreats where I dwell in the unspoken wisdom of my soul. But still, in my daily life, when going about my day, I'm so entangled.

I practice letting go. I practice surrendering. I practice being more than doing. Feeling more than thinking. I practice. I'm far from there. But practice makes perfect, right?

How much time are you spending in your limited 5%?

Trust there's a meaning even if you can't figure it out

I believe there's a meaning to all things that happen. I also believe that believing is a choice that I've made. Our left brain combined with the ego can really run the show if we let them, so I make conscious choices about what I want to believe and when I've made the choice I get to witness my belief grow.

A belief is nothing but a thought we keep thinking and we can decide what thoughts we want to feed. It's pretty amazing when you think about it. It means we really do create our own reality. Two people in identical circumstances can witness the world profoundly different, all because of the beliefs they foster.

This doesn't mean I always easily find the meaning even though I believe it's there. Most of the time I get to connect the dots looking backwards, but sometimes I don't understand. That's okay. That's when I conclude that the simple meaning of what happened could just have been to distract or delay me from something that wasn't meant for me.

I believe there is a meaning to everything. What do you believe?

With all my love,

Helena
