People are hard to hate up close. Lean in.

I don’t remember where I heard this first but I really do love it. We’re so easy to judge others and make them faulty to make ourselves feel better.

Getting closer requires a little bit of effort but it’ll make your life better. I promise. Hating is hard and energy consuming. And you’ll end up painting a world that isn’t very beautiful. But this world is really beautiful.

Don’t buy in to the black and white thinking. Life isn’t that simple. And I think we’re fooling ourselves thinking that life is free of paradoxes or fits into our fixed categories.

Make an effort of understanding other people. I’ve always said that if I would get 48 hours with any one person on this earth I would end up understanding them, regardless of how far away we were from each other starting off. It’s about opening up, leaning in and being willing to understand.

We all have our reasons. A reason is not an excuse but I genuinely believe that we’re all just looking for love. We’re all doing what we think we need to do to get it. Or deserve it.

People are hard to hate up close. Lean in.

With all my love,

Helena
