Hustle is not my thing

We live in a world where hustling and grinding is considered the norm if you want to be successful. I really don't buy it. It's not true for me at least. I've never experienced great success in my life by hustling and grinding. Sure, I've had my periods of 60-80 hour weeks and it landed me a prestigious career. I had the great pay, the car and the awesome benefits. But I had no freedom. And success without freedom is not success to me.

It's less about the hours and more about the posture of the heart. - Rob Bell

It's the actions I take in alignment that have the greatest impact on my business. I've spent countless hours in my first years of business doing what I thought I should. It has resulted in nothing.

I'm absolutely willing to work hard for what I want, but I'm more interested in working smart. I do what I love and I love what I do. I know I'm deserving of this. This is my success story.

What does success mean to you?

I've missed you!

It's been too long! I've been so focused on other things that I've forgotten how much I love writing on a regular basis. Writing without pressure. Writing for the love of it. Writing to understand myself better. And hopefully, writing to support you.

There might be some changes to the blog in the fall but for now, I'll keep on writing. Because of the love I have for it. These are my thoughts and feelings. This is a part of my universe. I will probably post Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, just like I used to, but we'll see how it flows. Right now, writing in general is what flows so that's what I'll do.

I write to reciprocate the flow

I've been blogging for six years now. Patiently, playfully, persistently. Sometimes it's been everyday, sometimes a couple of times a week and since a few years three posts a week. Writing, writing, writing.

If you've been following me for a while you know that the topics vary but it's mostly sharing recent lessons from my own life or just plain reflections. From time to time I'm behind in schedule and in those instances I feel a bit stressed about it but for the most part it's pure pleasure and it's just flow. I never read the posts after I've written them, I just let them go as they are. (So sorry for any misspellings or weird phrases)

I write to understand myself. I write to understand the world. I write because that's what I do. I write to reciprocate the flow of everything coming to me; inspiration, events, thoughts and ideas. I don't really know how not to write.

However, on my quest for living in alignment and following flow and guidance I've decided to not be so strict with myself on the three posts a week thing. I don't want to live my life out of should and I don't want to force anything in my business. Maybe the schedule will stay the same, maybe it'll shift from week to week. I don't know yet, that's sort of the point.

Anyhow, just wanted to let you in on my thoughts around this. I would love to hear yours! What do you like about the blog? What would you want to see more or less of? Is the schedule important to you?

Til next time!

The art of allowing

So often in our society today we talk about all the things we can't tolerate, behavior that we perceive as intolerable. Sometimes we need to get over it so we decide to tolerate. Tolerating a person or a behavior is a silent resistance. Intolerance is the loud resistance.

Nothing is right or wrong but I do believe we need to practice the art of allowing also. Allowing requires letting go of resistance altogether. It's surrendering. It's about accepting fully.

I'm practicing allowing with myself right now. With people that I think "should" live in a different way. With states of the world that I don't agree with. I practice faith, patience and trust as well. It's not always easy but I realize that when I start from that place I can easier sort through the emotions, expectations and messy thoughts and faster get to the core. To what is actually important. To the next right action. From alignment. Not resistance.

Allow life to unfold. Allow people to be who they are. Allow the world to be as it is. And when it's time for you to get into action, you will now for sure.

Be here now, still

Have you ever experienced achieving one of your big goals in life? Was it all that you expected it to be?

I talked to a friend the other week who highlighted this yet again for me. She had strived for a big goal everyday for four years until she finally reached where she had dreamed of being. Once there, depression came. Even though reaching the goal was amazing in many ways it didn't solve everything. All areas in her life was not magically transformed by reaching the goal but there was an unconscious expectation of this because it had been her whole focus for so long.

There is no there there. I know I say this all the time but it's so true. Sure, look ahead and work for the things you want but don't attach your happiness or attachment to it. Be here now, still. Fulfillment only happens in the present moment anyway.

Let flow spill over

I think we all have our areas in life where things just flow. We also have areas where we meet resistance over and over again. This is what Jess Lively likes to call "the ego's favorite chew toy". Maybe it's always flowed in your career but you struggle in relationships. Or you've always had flow with money but you can't seem to find balance in your health.

Don't focus so much on where it doesn't flow. Focus on where it does and try to copy that into the area of resistance. What are you doing in your flow area that you can also do where it's not? You probably don't worry or stress so much as you do where it flows, right? Maybe you feel really grateful for it and therefore creating more and more? What if you would let the flow spill over to where you need it and it would magically start flowing?

Food for thought. Let me know how it works for you!

Your intuition is always in alignment

Remember this; your inner being, or intuition, is always in alignment. The reason you're feeling so bad when you're feeling bad is because of the gap between you and your inner being. That's what hurts.

This is good news. It means that, no matter what, a part of you is always where you want to be. Use this as comfort.

A first step to close the gap is to let go of resistance to the fact that you feel the gap. Accept where you are.

Ask your intuition - what do I need to do to get closer to you right now? Don't be surprised if your answers are beyond wise. Don't give up if you get nothing back. Let go of resistance to that too and believe in yourself. You know what you need to do.

Here's an experiment for you

If you follow me on social media you know I'm currently doing a wonderful course with Jess Lively. It's all about flowing with intention, law of attraction and alignment. It's life changing in many ways. If you would choose to go down this path, it's a total paradigm shift.

We're used to wait for things to happen to get to feel what we want to feel. According to the law of attraction (which is also scientifically proven at this point) we need to reverse this order. First, you feel what you want to feel, then things start happening - the things you want that is. Because, you attract what you are.

For the next couple of days, try this: get into alignment before you do anything. Alignment is basically feeling great. (And, if you're in a rut right now, don't sweat it, be compassionate with yourself and try this another time.) Make sure that the first things you do in the morning are things that you love and that makes you happy. If it means you need to get up a bit earlier to have time for what you love, then go ahead and get to bed earlier. If you can't come up with anything, try a rampage of appreciation, meaning writing out things that you are grateful for (preferably 5 pages of it).

Watch how your day unfolds when you've taken charge of your initial state. Let me know how it goes!
